S.H Figurearts Kamen Rider Fourze (FIRESTATES)

Finally got that review up! Alright, today we are taking a look at the S.H Figurearts Kamen Rider Fourze, the Firestates version. So let's see, I'm not exactly the biggest Kamen Rider fan, heck I hardly know anything about Kamen Rider, but I like the way this figure looks, and due to me not reading details, we now have Kame Rider Fourze here. So I'll do my best to explain what this figure is.

Kamen Rider Fourze is one of the many versions of Kamen Rider in the Kamen Rider series. Kamen Rider is a Tokusatsu series, much like the Power Ranger series. This particular Kamen Rider is, Kamen Rider Fourze, from what I gathered, this Kamen Rider's theme is space, that he is based on a spaceship and a space suit. This particular Firestates version is a fire power up. So with minimal information and a Wikipedia at hand let's dive in!

Here we have the box, which is a way better box than the previous S.H Figurearts I've reviewed.

And now let's open it up!

Here we have Fourze out of the box.

One thing I want to take the time to draw attention to is the amount of detail this figure has.
First off the helmet. The bug eyes really pop out thanks to the brightness and the texture of the eyes. The inner part of the face has a clear red that gives a nice depth to it. The hive-like detail in the helmet itself gives so much to look at. The horns coming off the front and the side are pretty cool too. The helmet gives off this, determined yet heroic look that I just can't get enough of. The offset between the hive face mask and the solid red helmet does a really good job at drawing the attention in.

The details on the chest are pretty nice as well, tho not as complex as what is going on in the helmet. The red triangles do a good job at bringing the clear texture detail of the helmet and disperse it around the body. The flat red fire on the chest is very plain but again it draws the attention to the more detailed areas.
Speaking of the triangles, the massive shoulder ones are a bit annoying in my opinion, but I do like how they provided a nice cover to the upper body. The red in the shoulder pads do a good job at breaking up the amount of silver that is all over the place in the shoulder area. As well the shoulder guards have those nice black dots to really break up the silver.

While the front has a very busy look to it, the back is relatively plain, but it is the back so I can't fault it too much. The jetpack on the back looks nice and the black vent really breaks up the red. However that is really all I can say about the back, I would have liked it a bit more if they had some black lining or something to make these grooves on the back pop out just a bit, or maybe just paint it black.

A Kamen Rider's main gimmick is the belt (as far as I know). The belt looks good and is pretty bulky. However it is a bit too bulky for my taste, but then again I'm not much of a Kamen Rider fan. The clear color I normally don't like but given this is a power-up I'll give it a slide.

The arms are two different colors, we have a red one and a white one. From what I can tell, the white one is the original color that the normal Kamen Rider Fourze which is white. I have no idea what the significance of the shapes is, but at first, I thought it just stood out, I have gotten used to it since.
Down to the legs, the lower half of the legs do the same thing the arm does, they keep the original color that Fourze is, base form colors if you will. My only real complaint about the legs as a whole is, the upper half of the body has so much silver, while the lower half does not. While this may come off as nitpicking, it is a detail that bugs me.

Moving on to articulation, the head is on a ball joint and can move around pretty well.

The arm can extend out this far,
and we have some rotation.

The elbow can bend as so.
The shoulder also has this articulated point that almost pulls it out of its socket.
We have some more arm rotation here.
Which can go all the way around.

The lower part of the arm can rotate as well.

And the wrist has some good points of articulation, moving up and down and spin around.

Next, we have some waist articulation. We can lean back and forward.

And we have a good rotation at the waist.
Which can go all the way around.
Oh, and the handle on the belt can move.

Moving down to the legs, the leg can move forward.
The knee can bend as so.
The ankle can move down.
and up.
and rotate.
The toes can also bend.

Now we are onto accessories.

Let's start with the belt. The belt is the main gimmick of the Kamer Rider franchise. From what I understand, the Rider plugs in these for the lack of a better word component and that gives the Rider powers or tools and so on. The figure does a good job at recreating this action. Each of the switches that they are called is removable and swappable.

He can also hold them.

But now for something just as important, the hands. We have the following.

Moving on to the next accessory, the gun or the Fire Module Hee-Hack Gun...or at least the handle anyways.

The handle part of the gun mounts on the side right here.
But to use the gun at its full use, we get a front half that plugs into the handle.
Then we combine using this cord!
Then using both hands, he can hold this gun. Do note that these are two different cords of two different lengths.

Alternatively, we also have a version of the handle with a peg. Note that this one does not plug into the side of the figure.
And they combine as follows.
Next, we have this leg brace thing. I couldn't find a name for it, but here it is.
The leg pops off and can be replaced by this leg brace.

I'm not sure how the leg brace works, but I imagine it is something like this.
Next we have possibly the strangest thing I've ever gotten with a figure before. French Fries. These are called Foodroids and this particular one is called Potechokin. Basically robot french fries. You get two figures, one in food mode and the other in robot mode.

This has to be the strangest thing I've ever seen.

And finally, we got a ton of these switches. I have no idea what is what, but what I do know is you are supposed to pop off the clear cube and then they can fit into the belt.

And he can hold them in his hands.

So, these are some pretty nice accessories he comes with. Not too much and not too little.
However, nothing like a little tamashii stand to change things up.
Now he can jump, fly and whatever else! These stands are a must for these figures.

Now let's move on to the size comparisons.
Next to the OTHER S.H FIGURARTS THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED.
Master Grade Rx-78-4
And Robot Tamashii Knightmare Akatsuki.
 Now on to the problems.

The first problem I have is that the shoulder pads can pop off the ball joint if you try to move them around. But they can easily pop back in.
Next, it bugs me that he doesn't have an ab crunch. Now granted he might, but I'm kind of scared to force it as I'm worried the armor parts around the figure might pop off.
Next, is a problem I haven't had since the first post on this site. Sharpness. The leg guard and the head antenna are super sharp to the touch.

Next, a rather annoying, but fixable if you want to glue it, the kneecaps fall off. But not a lot, but they can if you mess around with the figure to much or just happen to hit them the right way.

Finally, a non-fixable problem, which annoys me is that the switches fall out way to easy and can be tedious to put back in. I actually lost one, but thankfully they gave you so much more.

But that doesn't mean the figure is awful.
The problems are annoying if anything, but nothing I can't really say ruin the figure. While I have no idea about this character, I know enough that I can have fun with it. The figure is super fun and has all a lot of playability.
The articulation is pretty good, tho a bit strange in some places, but I'm just not used to human characters. However, I welcome this articulation over the other figure anyway.
So it could have been the low standards of the previous figurarts I've had, but between the amazing details and everything else about it. I just love it.

And I can have fun doing crap like this.

So until next time.
