Yamato Neuromancer #003: Yoko Littner

Hello everyone! It has been super cold here, and with the cold comes sickness. Being sick sucks, made me miss last Friday. Why am I so bummed about that, last Friday was the three year anniversary of this blog. Man, three years, time sure does fly. Well, what better way to celebrate three years than to look at a figure from Yamato. The first review I've done here was the VF-11D from Macross Plus.  Today we are taking a look at another figure from Yamato. (In retrospect it should have been the GN-U DOU from Macross Plus.) The Yamato Neuromancer #003: Yoko Littner.

From what I can tell, there are two other figures in the Neuromancer line, but that is about all I know. These figures are pretty high quality and have a price to match. Pushing 200 to 300 USD. In addition to the high price point, these figures aren't easy to find. I came across mine at a con, thankfully the vendor was willing to give it to me a discount.

As for the character, I'm a huge Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann fan. If you don't know what that is, let me give you a quick rundown, Gurren Lagann is a mecha anime from 2007 produced by Ginax. The same people who brought FLCL and Evangelion. The show is an over the top feel-good anime, and I think that is what struck a chord with me about it. As for the character herself, this is Yoko Littner. I did a review of the figure based on her, from a spin-off manga. Link here. Overall, she is my #1 when it comes to anime girls. (Please no waifu wars here) Which may be why I was prompted to buy this figure. This figure is also the 5th anniversary for the anime Gurren Lagann, so it came out in 2012.

Enough about the why I got the figure, lets dive into this figure itself!

Now full disclaimer! I had to take her apart and tighten her joints in her waist. I'm not sure if this was because it was my copy or not, but she was so loose, that she couldn't stand. Thankfully I was able to tighten her joints and now she is able to stand on her own. I'll get into more detail about this later, however.

Box:

Back:
Pretty sizable box, let's open her up!

Here we have all that she comes with.
1x Figure
4x swappable eyes
2x faceplates
1x sunglasses
4x hands
1x sniper rifle
1x stand
3x stand adapters
1xbattery
1x bullet
2x hairpins
2x holdable hairpins

Now to the figure herself.
So right off the bat, this figure is beautiful. She is very colorful, the sculpting is amazing, she just has so much personality.

Side:

While she looks great, does her articulation hold up?
She can look left to right.
 And look up.
Her arm can extend out this far.
It can also rotate upwards thanks to the ball joint.
Elbow can bend this much.
The wrist can rotate and spin around.

Hip articulation is there, she can sway left and right. Her hip is a ball joint.
Added bonus, she has shoulder articulation, allows for her arm to move forward and back.

Her legs are on two ball joints, which can go forward about this far before getting caught in her shorts.
They can move this far back.
The knees can bend this far.
Her ankles can move left to right.
As well up and down, and a toe bend.
Her ponytail has a ball joint.
Other bits of articulation include her scarf, it is two parts that hang on loosely but are able to move around.
As well the zippers on her boots can move up and down.

Now let's take a look at accessories.

The first accessories we will take a look at are the attachable hairpins.
Both come in a pure yellow and they have an attachment point for plugging them into her hair.
On the back of her head are two slots. Make sure you put them in right, they do go in a certain way.
Just plug and play.
She comes with two faceplates.
One a happy face:
And one angry face.

She comes with different eyes. I'll be honest they were a pain to swap out. So I didn't do it all the way. But here they are. One pair looks left, the other looks right.

She also comes with her sunglasses.
They just plug into her hair.
She comes with four different hands.
While two of the four are just mirrors of each other, the remaining two are unique.

Additional accessories are:
Two hair pens she can hold. (She can only hold one at a time.)
A bullet. (Which is sharp)
And a battery. I'll be honest, I don't know what this thing is for.
And next, her iconic sniper rifle!

The sniper has some gimmicks to it, such as the kickstand, and removable ammo clip.

As for holding it, she does an amazing job.

Next, we are looking at her stand.
The stand has an amazing look, sporting the Dai Gurren emblem.
It also comes with three different adapters.
I'll be honest, I don't know what two of these adapters are for.
But the main one plugs in as so.
Now, you're probably asking, well that is a strange looking adapter? Well, it looks like that for a reason, it is a magnetic adapter! In her back is a magnet.
With that, we don't have any hole or peg in her back, just a nice smooth connection.

The stand does a really good job at keeping her up. Makes posing with her sniper all that easier too.

Now let's dive into the details. As mentioned earlier, this figure is beautiful. Her detail is just up there, making the price worth it.
From the details of her fingers.
Her very well design face and colorful eyes.
Even the hair pen is amazing.
As well as other well-rounded assets.
Even the details on the back and belt. the detail is amazing.
Even the sniper has amazing detail to it.
Now for size comparison.
Next to Revoltech school uniform Yoko.
And next to Yamato VF-11D

Now for the complaints. Yes, this figure has its share of issues.
The first major issue is her boots. The upper part of her boots don't really hold on to anything and they just kind of spin around.

Another issue, when moving her legs, her shorts don't exactly line up, the mechanics inside become visible sometimes.
She does not come with the strap for her sniper, this is actually bugging me, even the Revoltech one had the strap, granted it wasn't anything more than painted plastic, but still.
Another issue is about the eyes, I was just too scared to part swap around in fear of breaking a figure that is so expensive.
Now for the major issue, I had with this figure. Earlier I said I had to tighten the joints in the legs. When I took her out of the box, she couldn't stand, her legs were so heavy that I guess the ball joints couldn't handle it. Now take that with a grain of salt, on Amazon, this figure has positive feedback. So I'm not really sure if it is just mine or not.

Since then I just tightened the joints and that fixed it.

The last major issue I have is her hair is really heavy and pulls her neck back.

But, on the positive side, she has great articulation, and the different poses and accessories really help this figure out.  The size, detail, possibility and honestly everything about this figure makes it amazing.
Final thoughts,
this figure is expensive, the only reason I got it was because I was able to pay roughly 100 dollars for it. From what I understand these figures don't really exist anymore and are upwards of 200 to 300 dollars. The detail and sculpting are amazing, the articulation is great. It bugs me that she wasn't able to stand outside of the box, but it was nothing I couldn't fix. However, if I paid 300 or so dollars, I would be really upset by that. So would I recommend this figure? To answer that, I would have to ask, are you a die-hard TTGL fan? Or are you a collector who is trying to buy the rest of the Neuromancer line. With a figure that seems to be so rare and expensive, I can't say to go out a buy it like it was a gunpla or Ultraman figure being a passive interest. However, if you are very much a die hard, then I would recommend it. She is a great figure and I honestly love everything about it. I may be being biased but just for that well-detailed face alone. I say she is a great find, just make sure you get a good deal on it. I think that is what adds to the satisfaction the most.

Well until next time,

- Zeroconvoy
